In Short: A gorgeous palate with excellent nuance throughout. This is definitely a box-worthy blend.
Construction: Very rustic, rugged-covered in veins and a couple sunspots. Sweet, coffee/chocolate/chestnut amalgam on the nose
Cold/Hot Draw: Cold is a bit t
ight and stays that way.
Burn-line: Varies with steep troughs, probably due to the draw. Definitely needs a few draw-tool passes.
Ash: Light grey with excellent, firm structure.
Smoke: Billowing, thick smoke-packed with flavor.
;
⅓: Interestingly sharp, tangy citrus, subdued leather, a dried walnut wood and savory cashew welcome you into the fold. Pushes forth with more chestnut, mossy funk, salted caramel and black pepper-a delectable transition. Creaming up with a splash of coffee and bitter, charred wood on the finish; laying out on these notes more and tapering the previous ones. The caramel and charred wood culminate into this candied wood note wrapped in a chestnut/walnut nuttiness. Opening the draw unleashes more nuts and less char with the caramel intact. The pepper
morphs into an exotic, savory spice I can’t put my finger on, along the background (almost like
a cinnamon/rattan/sage).
⅔: Moving back to aged dry woods, herbal pepper, and a frothy cappuccino with a light caramel drizzle. Also has this sharp metallic element here as well. More cream is added to the cappuccino where th
e coffee is very faint but quite sweet (turning more towards cashews once more) and the wood
, lightly smoking with a return of black pepper. The cream slowly dries up leaving the caramel atop charred wood with roasted chestnuts but no bitterness. Even a hint of chocolate oozes out of the cracks.
³⁄₃: Before long, the bitterness protrudes through the chestnuts and charred wood; all caramel, cream and sweetness has long subsided. The turbulence settles into bitter pecans, charred woods, walnuts, subtle cedar-continuing to evolve on the palate. Ends on this lovely tangy cinnamon on the walnuts and cedar.

- Thoroughly enjoyable! You can definitely find the Plasencia influence in this blend.

Pairing: Blue Run Reflection I + Barrell Dovetail. Blue Run was an utter disappointment for me, offering almost no flavor but it does allow others to express more when mixed. A thorough let down for the $85 sticker. A pretty decent pairing. Not much contrast or compliment, just a palate cleanser.
